Not Cool Robert Frost!

Why do I never post anymore? I think I miss it so I think I'll try to find more time to devote to this here web log.  In any case, today has been a great day.  I'm probably going to attribute it to the fact that I spent the best dollar of my life on an alarm clock app last night.  Sleep is very dear to me but unfortunately, I abuse it all too often.  This app may be saving my sleep though.  Essentially, it uses the accelerometer in your phone and it tracks roughly when you are in which stages of sleep.  You set the alarm to wake you during a half hour period and it will go off when you are in the lightest stage of sleep which is when your body naturally wakes up.  IT WORKED!  Seriously, I'm hooked.  And it tracks and graphs your sleep over time so you can make good sleeping habits.  Quite the useful tool for a sleep deprived college student.

So after I woke up refreshed, I took a stupid calc test and then went to two more classes and returned home to find 3 of my roommates and their (basically) boyfriends over.  What a good afternoon!  Then my other roommates got back and we painted nails and hung out with the boys next door and just had a grand afternoon.  Spring Break must be starting tomorrow because everyone is way too happy (actually I take that back, I wish we were all this happy all of the time).

It's just been a great day.  I even got to watch 3 short TED talks!  And we know how much I love TED talks.  They are my favorite.  I was led to this pep talk from Kid President on the TED website and thought I'd share-

This kid is seriously the cutest.  "Not cool Robert Frost!"  If you have a few minutes to spare I would highly recommend watching more of his videos.  They'll just make you happy.

Life is just so fun right now.  To top off my good happy feelings right now, I just got an email that I had a package downstairs and it was my mom's monthly package with the Ensign.  How sweet is she??  And it had two packs of gum!  My life is awesome.  Oh and I'm going with my friend and the kids she nanny's to Disney on Ice tonight... There's a first time for everything!  Haha.  Good times.

Plus- I leave tomorrow for Macklemore in St. George and then on to Vegas on Saturday to stay with my pledge class until Tuesday.  Spring Break here I come!

I'm loving life.  It's a beautiful thing.  Yeah, it has it's downs (last week anyone? BAD week) but it's days like these that remind me why I'm here and that help me to see the wonderful things life has to offer.

p.s.  How did I get so lucky as to live with these 6 incredible girls?  They are some of my closest friends and I would be nothing without them.  Love them to the moon and back.

It's midnight and I was supposed to go to bed an hour and a half ago because I have class at 7:30... but alas, I'm still up reading all of my past blog posts.  It's killing me!  I'm loving reading back at the dork I was (and really still am).  It's gotten me thinking about all the ways I've changed.

I can't fall asleep.  I'm so happy right now and I don't want this night to end.  I've been in a bit of a slump.  I've just been struggling and couldn't figure out why.  I hadn't been to the temple in a while.  I always meant to go but it was hard to find a few hours (trax take forever) to go.  Terrible excuse. I just kept telling myself that I would go the next day.  So yeah, things were so hard.  I had no motivation.  I was angsty.  I was lazy.  And then that all changed yesterday.  My neighbor Taggert and I had been trying to find a day to go to the temple together and we finally found a time.  So yesterday we went.  It was exactly what I needed.

I don't know what I would do without the gospel in my life.  It grounds me when nothing else can.  Simply going to the temple, reading scriptures, pondering and praying while there was the best medicine I could have received.  I love the gospel.  With the Lord's help I can accomplish anything.  17 credit hours of purely math and science plus working in a lab is a lot. This semester won't be easy.  But I can do it because I have the Lord on my side.  Today after classes, I spent an hour and a half studying my scriptures and listening to the CES devotional that I had to miss on Sunday.  And then wrote a letter to a close friend on his mission.  I had SO much homework to do but I just decided to study first.  It made all the difference!  Honestly, such a testimony builder.  I expected to be working on my homework for a good 6-8 hours but I was able to get it done in 4.  And I understood everything!   What a blessing.

Putting the Lord first makes all the difference.  He cares about me and my studies.  He cares about my social life.  He cares that I had been feeling down in the dumps and He is there to help but I need to reach out to Him in order for his help to reach me effectively.

And there is my first post back from a long time.  It's late so excuse the rambling.
